How this tool works

The browser reads the selected file metadata and decodes the bitmap to obtain natural width and height. Megapixels = width × height ÷ 1,000,000.

Example

A 4032×3024 photo contains about 12.19 megapixels and reduces to the aspect ratio 4:3.

Common questions

Does this read EXIF camera metadata?

No. This lightweight inspector reports file and bitmap properties, not full EXIF/GPS metadata.

Does inspection upload the file?

No. The selected file is decoded locally in the browser.
