Word Unscrambler & Anagram Solver

Enter a rack of letters to find valid English words that can be made from them. Use a question mark as a wildcard, switch between common and broader word lists, require exact anagrams, or narrow results by starting letters, ending letters and contained text.

Spaces and punctuation are ignored. Use ? as a blank tile that can stand for any letter.

HEART

Dictionary data is based on SCOWL-derived English word lists, including common U.S. spelling variants. Word-game dictionaries can use different accepted-word rules, so tournament legality should be checked against the specific game dictionary.

How this tool works

Each candidate word is compared with the available count of every letter. A word is accepted when its required letters do not exceed the entered rack after wildcard tiles are applied. Results are grouped by word length and longest matches are shown first.

Example

Entering HEART can find five-letter anagrams such as EARTH, HEART and HATER, plus shorter words such as HEAR, RATE, HATE and ART when exact-anagram mode is off.

Common questions

Can I use blank or wildcard tiles?

Yes. Enter ? for each blank tile. A wildcard can substitute for any missing letter while matching dictionary words.

Does it find words that use only some of my letters?

Yes by default. Turn on Exact anagrams only when every entered letter, including wildcards, must be used.

Are all results legal in Scrabble or Words With Friends?

Not necessarily. Different games and tournaments use different official dictionaries. This solver uses a general SCOWL-derived English word list, so verify game-specific legality when it matters.

What is the difference between Common and Standard dictionary modes?

Common favors more familiar words and smaller search results. Standard expands the dictionary with additional established English words and U.S. spelling variants.
