Markup Calculator

Price a product or service by applying a markup percentage to cost and see the resulting gross margin.

Selling price$84.00
Gross profit$24.00
Equivalent margin28.57%

How this tool works

Selling price = cost × (1 + markup). Profit = selling price − cost. Margin = profit ÷ selling price.

Example

A $60 cost with 40% markup gives an $84 selling price, $24 profit and about 28.57% gross margin.

Common questions

Are markup and margin the same percentage?

No. Markup divides profit by cost; margin divides profit by selling price.

Does this include overhead or taxes?

Only if those amounts are already included in the entered cost.
