How this tool works
The tool encodes text as UTF-8 bytes and passes those bytes to Web Crypto digest using the selected SHA algorithm.

Hash the same configuration string twice with SHA-256 to confirm the text is byte-for-byte identical.
Common questions
Can I use this to store passwords?
A plain fast SHA hash is not an appropriate password-storage scheme. Passwords should use a dedicated slow password-hashing/KDF design with salt.
Why is SHA-1 included?
Only for compatibility and legacy checks; SHA-1 should not be selected for new collision-resistant security designs.
