Bernoulli Equation Calculator

Apply a simple Bernoulli energy balance between two locations using pressure, velocity, elevation and fluid density.

How this tool works

P₂ = P₁ + ½ρ(V₁²−V₂²) + ρg(z₁−z₂), assuming steady, incompressible, inviscid flow with no pump/turbine/loss terms.

Example

If a water stream speeds up while remaining at the same elevation, the ideal static pressure falls by the corresponding change in velocity head.

Common questions

Does this include friction loss?

No. Real pipe systems typically need Darcy-Weisbach or another loss model in addition to Bernoulli terms.

Can I use it for compressible gas flow?

Not as a general gas-flow solver. The simple equation assumes effectively incompressible behavior.
