Converters

Temperature Converter

Convert temperatures between Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin and Rankine. The calculator applies the required offsets as well as scale changes, so temperature is not treated like an ordinary linear unit conversion.

1 °C =33.8 °F
1 °C33.8 °F
10 °C50 °F
100 °C212 °F

Conversions use exact defined factors where standards provide them and conventional reference factors otherwise. Round the result to the precision appropriate for your application.

How this tool works

°F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Kelvin = °C + 273.15. Rankine = Kelvin × 9/5.

Example

20 °C equals 68 °F and 293.15 K. Conversely, 32 °F equals 0 °C.

Common questions

At what temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit equal?

They are equal at −40 degrees: −40 °C = −40 °F.

Can Kelvin be negative?

Physical temperatures below absolute zero are not represented by the ordinary Kelvin scale, although the converter will mathematically transform any numeric input.
