Projectile Motion Calculator

Model two-dimensional projectile motion with initial speed, launch angle, starting height and gravitational acceleration.

Flight time4.326 s
Horizontal range91.774 m
Maximum height22.944 m
Horizontal velocity21.213 m/s

How this tool works

Horizontal velocity is v cosθ. Vertical position is y=h+v sinθ·t−½gt²; the positive root at y=0 gives flight time.

Example

At 30 m/s and 45° from ground level, the ideal no-drag range is about 91.8 m under standard gravity.

Common questions

Does this include aerodynamic drag?

No. The equations assume constant gravity and no air resistance.

Can the launch height be above ground?

Yes. A positive initial height increases the positive flight-time root before the projectile reaches y=0.
